Anyway, there's 2 gesso uses you didn't mention that I can think of off the top of my head.

1 is image transfers. It's a true science to get it right.

Another is for texturing! If you paint down a good layer of gesso and use the end of your painttbrush or whatever, you can sort of etch into the gesso.
